The monthly magazine podcast for the discerning film nerd. James Adamson is a slightly obsessive armchair fan, giving you his take on the world of cinema. So are his co hosts: James Adamson, his imaginatively named son, and Alan Bayles, a sci fi author, fellow film nerd and fellow Sunderland fan. As well as a look at news, new releases and how we’re fitting in movie watching with our busy exciting lives, we look into classic films we haven't seen yet and overlooked hidden gems you need to see, ask remakes to justify their existence or be wiped from history and offer parole hearings to bad films that need to be remade to fix their flaws.

Monday May 18, 2020
Greetings film nerds - this is where it all began on Double Reel - on episode 1 the content is great but I was still learning the ropes and the sound and presentation are a bit basic. Stick with it, we get better as we go on!
First episode of a monthly film podcast by a film nerd who doesn't know any better than you but hopes you're running out of things to listen to. James Adamson is a slightly obsessive armchair fan, giving you his take on the world of cinema. He takes a look at an underrated classic that deserves a wider audience - Brian DePalma's Blow Out; a tall tale of a great film that never got made - John Carpenter's unrealised Firestarter project. He rants angrily about the unnecessary remake of Total Recall, and shares what it was like to watch Korean classic Lady Vengeance in between changing baby's nappies.
