The monthly magazine podcast for the discerning film nerd. James Adamson is a slightly obsessive armchair fan, giving you his take on the world of cinema. So are his co hosts: James Adamson, his imaginatively named son, and Alan Bayles, a sci fi author, fellow film nerd and fellow Sunderland fan. As well as a look at news, new releases and how we’re fitting in movie watching with our busy exciting lives, we look into classic films we haven't seen yet and overlooked hidden gems you need to see, ask remakes to justify their existence or be wiped from history and offer parole hearings to bad films that need to be remade to fix their flaws.

Reel 2 of our latest episode brings you the Big Conversation and This Time It's Personal. This month we dig into Sequel Syndrome, in which Hollywood can't resist continuing the search for more money with follow ups to successful films. We look at what works and doesn't work in sequels, and when they should and shouldn't be made. We range from the great sequels - Godfather 2, Aliens, Mad Max Fury Road, The Raid 2 to the OK but more of the same sequels - Die Hard 2, X Men 2, French Connection 2 - to the downright awful sequels like Speed 2, Highlander 2, Jaws 3D and Jaws The Revenge. We also ask whether some films are untouchable and shouldn't have a sequel, and what sequels we'd like to see that haven't been made yet.
