The monthly magazine podcast for the discerning film nerd. James Adamson is a slightly obsessive armchair fan, giving you his take on the world of cinema. So are his co hosts: James Adamson, his imaginatively named son, and Alan Bayles, a sci fi author, fellow film nerd and fellow Sunderland fan. As well as a look at news, new releases and how we’re fitting in movie watching with our busy exciting lives, we look into classic films we haven't seen yet and overlooked hidden gems you need to see, ask remakes to justify their existence or be wiped from history and offer parole hearings to bad films that need to be remade to fix their flaws.

Issue 50 continues with Classics and Hidden Gems, and our theme is journalists and reporters in film. The Classic is Peter Weir's Oscar winning 1982 drama The Year of Living Dangerously, featuring Sigourney Weaver and Mel Gibson before they were megastars. The Hidden Gem is the other film Oliver Stone made in 1986, Salvador starring James Woods.
Double Reel Monthly is already out and next week we'll bring you the Remakes Tribunal.
