So are his co hosts: James Adamson, his imaginatively named son, and Alan Bayles, a sci fi author, fellow film nerd and fellow Sunderland fan. As well as a look at news, new releases and how we’re fitting in movie watching with our busy exciting lives, we look into classic films we haven't seen yet and overlooked hidden gems you need to see, ask remakes to justify their existence or be wiped from history and offer parole hearings to bad films that need to be remade to fix their flaws.

The Adamsons are back with Issue 38 of the monthly magazine podcast for the discerning film nerd. This part one of three, Double Reel Monthly, with news, a look at new releases, reviews of new films we've watched and the compelling and incredibly complicated Penalty Shootout Film Quiz. We also check in on our film resolutions for 2023, in which we each watch a selection of films as part of annual projects. For James (no the other one) it's Legal Age of Consent, where he watches a Nic Cage film picked at random. For James (no that one) it's The Cronenberg Institute, which this month features 2007's Eastern Promises. Part 2 the features will be released in a week's time, and a week after that we'll have the Big Conversation.
